Piccolo Place is about small old time five string banjos and the newly introduced Piccolele banjo. A Piccolele is a banjo ukulele, or banjo mandolin that has been completely and professionally transformed into a small five string banjo. The overall dimensions of these banjos can be viewed here alongside the other 1890's S.S. Stewart family of five string banjos. Essentially, they are nearly the same size in overall length as Stewart's Piccolo banjo, but with a slightly shorter scale length. Stewart invented the Piccolo banjo as well the other smaller models in the 1880's and his competitors were quick to make their own piccolos of varying specifications. I have chosen to use Stewart's dimensions for all comparisons. About... FAQ |
