Tremont No.355 - Fretless Short Scale Banjo
Here is a lovely antique eleven inch double spun rim 1890's banjo in great playing condition. The fingerboard is heavy ebony with very colorful abalone inlays and the nut and 5th string pip are bone.
All of the brackets and nuts are matching. There are several shoes that don't match exactly. It has the original tailpiece and engraved tension hoop and neck brace.
The geared 5th string tuner is not original. The ivoroid friction tuners have bushings to improve with tuning. The dowel stick was repaired many years ago and the repair is almost invisible and completely solid.
This is an 11" banjo rim with a slightly smaller 18" neck and a shorter 25" scale length. It is currently strung with light gauge steel strings and plays and sounds great.
The case is a slightly oversized chipboard case in good condition.
If you have never played a fretless, this is your opportunity! An awful lot of fun for the old time banjo style. $650 with Chipboard Case ......Thanks for looking!
