This banjo started its life as a banjo mandolin around 1920. I have reworked the original neck and now it is a miniature 5 stringer. This was made by the Rettberg & Lange company of New York in the early part of the 1900's. They generally made very good quality banjos and with heavier materials than many of their competitors. The 14" scale and the 8 inch rim along with the substantial tone ring assembly, gives the banjo a lot of punch. The maple rim cap and contrasting woods in the rim are not typical of many vintage banjos and is a nice feature. This banjo has a very wide neck compared to other small banjos and this makes for easier clawhammer style playing. OUT OF STOCK |
